It triggered an extremely high release of adrenaline and almost caused a heart attack. His heart was pounding, he was shaking all over, sweating... he said he was absolutely terrified and will never take the stuff again.
Certain prescription drugs can do the same thing in susceptible people. For example the triptan meds used to treat migraines can't be used by people with high blood pressure or history of heart problems because they can trigger a cardiac event.
The point is that every med, alternative, natural, organic or pharmeceutical can have side effects for some people and should not be mixed with other meds or supplements without checking with a doctor or a VERY knowledgeable and experienced alternative practitioner, especially when you're dealing with something that affects serotonin levels.
