Hi,
Wow, a kindred soul (or tummy). I developed severe nausea--seemingly out of the blue--three years ago. I had two horrid nights of serial vomiting, ending in the ER. Then I alternated between feeling A-OK, feeling queasy, and feeling downright can't-put-a-blessed-thing-in-my-mouth-or-I'll-vomit. Over time I've improved, though by no means am I cured.
At first I tried compazine, which had always helped in the past (for ex., when I had a tummy bug or reacted to a med), and it did nothing but knock me out. My doc prescribed Zofran, an antiemetic (antinausea med) given to chemo patients. It worked very well. Three years ago I took it three times a day; now I take it maybe three times a week. For whatever reason, it's not as effective as it used to be, though it's still helpful. I'm extraordinarily drug-sensitive, and I've never noticed any side effects. Be warned: it's very $, and my insurance capped it at 12 doses/month. Fortunately, docs can request exceptions, and mine did, with success.
I tried ginger, but it didn't help. Neither did acupuncture.
FYI, I'm a hard-core IBS-C. My body doesn't know the meaning of D.
Hope this helps!
