Hi Shandy,

I experience this a lot as well. I think it's because the muscles in the tummy are flabby from insufficient exercise. Also when I've been experiencing a lot of stress over a prolonged period of time...I notice that my tummy gets tight and I can't seem to eliminate too completely.

I am experimenting, in addition, to working towards a low-fat Vegan diet (with some fish and eggs on occasion) that I'm obtaining success with a tummy massage technique described in "Unwinding the Belly" - Healing with Gentle Touch by Allison Post and Stephen Cavaliere. The woman author has experienced bowel problems and her techniques most especially addresses how to increase the "chi" (energy) within the tummy so that the nerve/muscle coordination connection can effectively work. She talks about pumping the "lymph" on either side of the belly button as a way to encourage the system to move things along. I am faithfully practicing her methods for a couple of weeks now and I'm already seeing a difference. Sometimes the Citrocel I'm taking works and sometimes it doesn't. But I do notice when I'm massaging my belly that there are places where I'm very tight and firm and other areas where I'm soft. I know I often trap my emotions in my belly. It helps to release it. The massage treatments are only for five to ten minutes once in the morning and once at night. So before I get out of bed I do it and before I fall asleep at night I do it again.

But I feel for you Shandy with the incomplete elimination thing. That's precisely my problem as well. If I could afford to go to this woman's workshop in San Francisco, CA, I would run and not walk...that's how deeply I resonate with her process. Good luck, dear.

Sheryl
