Alright, I know that the IBS diet is not really big on junk food and that's a good thing, I guess. I was just wondering if there are any safe candies? I've been eating the peppermint starbright candies, Altoids (not really candies, but they're minty), and this one other kind of peppermint candy called Sweet Stripes (I looked at the ingredients and all it has is sugar, peppermint oil, and one or two other things. I thought that was really funny because I read the ingredients on other packages of candy and the list is HUGE and full of triggers or just things with really long, complicated names).
Are candies like Starbursts, Skittles, Jolly Ranchers, flavored candy canes (like cherry, watermelon, or blueberry), Smarties, SweetTarts, Mentos, and Dum-Dum suckers IBS-safe? Does the citric acid in these candies pose a problem?
