Can skipping a snack (eating badly) cause GI distress?

My daughter had a birthday party on Saturday, and I was rushing around trying to manage everything, and did not have time or remember to eat my snack before dinner. I then ate dinner later than usual, and woke up the next morning with colon spasm/pain. (I'm IBS-C). For the next few days, I have tried to recover, but to no avail... a lot of bloating and gas. I am feeling discouraged and confused after doing so well for 4 weeks. Any ideas if not sticking to routine re meals/snacks could cause my such discomfort?
