I'm IBS-C and the first dr I saw prescribed Bentyl to stop my painful colon spasms. I had to stop taking it because even though it helped my pain it made my C much worse. Bentyl should not cause D because it relaxes the colon, slowing down the muscle movement. Also, one of the side effects is C.
It could have been stress from going back to work or something you ate.
