Mitch, I know it just plain stinks to get stuck with this! We were out with friends for dinner last night and I felt like such a boring dork! I was afraid to eat anything because of the reasons you mentioned but didn't want to explain it all. I had eaten a bowl of plain rice before we left, so I wasn't starving and that made it so much easier to pass on the "good" stuff. Lucky for me I LIKE plain white rice, always have! Makes sense now. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) Anyway, I'm glad you are working out! I know the fitness mantra is low carb and mod protein intake and this IBS plan seems crazy to them. I had been following that plan for almost ten years! In my 20's I used to pass out at work and school, and it was because I had kinda naturally taken to eating rice and soup and not much else (Not knowing I had IBS) So my blood sugar would drop and I'd faint. So I was told to eat a low carb/mod protein diet back then, even though I wasn't dieting. It didn't bug me too much for quite some time, but the last few years, it really hit me hard! Now that I've backed off all the roughage, it's less rough! Hee! Now there are protein powders that are more tasteful and I tolerate protein bars pretty well, (guess cause it's all powdered and easier to digest?) So that's one way you try to get some protein, the Soy Protein items, aren't they safe for us? Seems to be OK with me. Keep up the good work! And don't let the trainer make you feel like you're doing something wrong by not eating the way he reccomends, you can't help this and that stuff is going to make you sick and you won't be able to get in there and work out, and if you can't do that, you won't build muscles to burn that weight. Stick with it! missyb
