I have found one technique that has proved very very helpful in moving along painful gas bubbles. If this should be moved to the yoga board, have at it moderator!

Get down on all fours (well, forearms and knees). Arch your back up like a cat and 'clench' your tummy muscles for ten seconds, breathing deeply. Then, slowly lower your back and begin arching your back the other way, and stick your rear as high up as possible. RELAX all muscles in your stomach, while breathing slowly and keeping your head parallel with your spine, neck relaxed and soft. You should start to feel some of that gas start to move slowly. If the gas doesn't move, I suck in and then push out my tummy, trying to make the gas gurgle.

I have to do this several times before things start moving, and I stay in the second 'pose' for a long time (upwards of a minute or two). The key for me is to completely relax my tummy, arch my back and stick my rear out and has high as possible. Oh, and I've also done this weird thing where I toss myself over a couch arm, and stick my head into the cushions, feet and arse in the air. Sounds weird and looks moronic, but it works!!!!

If doing the above exercises several times doesn't work, do a colonic massage (instructions in my post in the Yoga board), maybe a heating pad, and then go back to above instructions.

I'm sure that there are yoga names for this exercise, but I just don't know what they are!

Hope this helps someone!!

You are funny.......Yes, the name for the posture is Cat posture. Some people call it cat/dog. The part of the posture where you are letting the belly relax & be soft, titlting your tailbone (arse) in the air is the Inhale phase (dog), the part where you exhale and draw the belly button up & in towards the spine and ARCH the back like a Halloween cat is called...well, cat. Smile. Glad it helps you!

I didn't realize that I posted this twice, but I really appreciate your explanations. I mostly do Pilates and not Yoga, but my parents both do Yoga and they told me about these poses.

Thanks again!

Yeah yoga helps me with gas, too. One time i did a downward-facing dog pose and it helped me. I haven't found a specific position yet that does the trick, although i have heard that various types of backbends help with constipation and stuff.

see ya!
