freezing ripe bananas????

So I have a bunch of ripe black bananas! HOW does one freeze them? And then what do I do when I want to use them?

Steph I am pretty sure you can just put them in a plastic bag in the freezer, and when you need one or however many, just take it out and let it thaw! Its great for making banana bread, etc.

Yup thats what I do with the black bananas. You can either peel them then put them in a bag or keep in the peel and when you need them to bake with, just put the bag in cold water, and they unthaw faster! Sue

They defrost into a globular mass, rather disgusting. Perfect for the Cuisinart perhaps, but otherwise..... ew.

I always wrap mine in aluminum foil, then put them in a plastic bag... labeled, of course, so I don't forget what that "globular mass" in my freezer is!

Yep, I peel them first. Then when I want them for banana bread I nuke them in the microwave until they're soft enough to mash. I just keep doing it for about 20 seconds at a time until they're done!

Hi Steph, So glad yu asked this question. I usually am able to get my husb. to eat the ripe ones unless there are too many.Now I know this will be a great short cut to making banana bread and muffins.

For years I just stuck them in the freezer as is. But they are gross to peel that way. So now I put them in a freezer bag skinless and then mash them through the bag with my hands- it saves one step- then I label the amount and freeze.
