Hi,
I just found a new soy ice cream that is made by Blue Ribbon. I tried it last night and I thought it was really nice. It's vanilla flavour but has some honey which gives it a nice taste. It has only 1g fat per serve which is great too.

Woolworths stocks it beside the other soy ice creams and it is $4.98.

Let me know if you like it too. I was so excited to find something new (that tastes good too).

Now if only our soy cheese range would catch up with the U.S!

Kerrie,
I found soy parmesan! It is mixed in with romano and mozzarella (all soy). I found it in Safeway. It is quite expensive around $6 for a small package but it tastes great. I use it sparingly for pizza, lasagne etc. The range also has shredded tasty which was ok but not as nice and I think there is swiss in slices. I had to try a few different safeways but it is fairly available. The company that makes it is a US company. The brand is veggie cheese by galaxy foods. Hope you find it!

Thanks Trish,

I will have to ring and find my nearest stockist. Also is it grated, sliced, block? And does it melt? please tell me yes!

Kerrie,
It does melt! The parmesan one not that well but the flavour is wonderful, the tasty melts. Both are grated.

Hope this helps.

There is an Australian Ice Cream available from Woolworths, Coles and most other supermarkets called Fruccio, most shops stock Vanilla and Dutch Chocolate - in a word Yum - but if your lucky your supermarket will also have a couple of other flavours. I serve this up to non-special family members and they can't tell the difference!

You guys are so lucky. Ive searched everywhere, and no supermarket ive ever been to has eathier soy nor rice incecream. One time, back last june, I bought Lactaid Vanilla ice cream. I know better now, though, because although Lactaid Ice Cream dosnt have lactose, it has whey, caesin, and 8grams of fat per serving...Yikes!

Hi Angel,
Do you have Whole Foods stores in NJ? I have found lots of choices for various soy ice cream products at Whole Foods, as well as in the health food section of my grocery store.

Hope you can find some soy ice cream products...they're yummy!

Unfortunatley, I have yet to find a whole foods store anywhere in the state of NJ! All i see is chocolate bars, potato chips and wall to wall McDonalds!!

There is a Whole Foods in Marlton on Route 73. They used to be called Fresh Fields, but the company just changed its name. They have 2 or three kinds of soy ice cream and rice ice cream, too.

Also, I have found Tofutti (soy ice cream) in ShopRite and Super G stores.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Trish, I really liked it and it melted really well.

I was a bit worried when I got home and noticed that way down the list of ingredients it listed "lactose-free dried skim milk protein". I tried it though and was fine with it, so this will be a permanent fixture on my shopping list.

BTW, I made the rice krispie treats using rice bubbles and they were really nice. I used 4 cups rice bubbles with 40 large marshmallows. I found the marshmallows only barely took 30sec to melt in the m'wave. I added 2t cocoa at about 20secs.

I picked up some of their slices last night and am planning a toasted 'cheese' and tomato sandwich tonight... So excited about it! I've been getting cheese cravings lately, even though I haven't had any dairy for over 2 years now.

Will let you know how the slices go...

PS. So nice to be able to share this stuff with people who won't then think I'm insane :-)

Kerrie,

I am going to try the swiss! I am craving swiss cheese. Try the parmesan/romano mix - I love it on pizza. I am so glad we have this here in oz now!
