... that I cannot WAIT to move to Canada, where I will have access to a kitchen (and a big one!) for more than a hurry-in/hurry-out throw some dinner together so I can try to make all of this stuff! I browse through all these recipes once and a while and just get really excited. I am going to turn myself into an IBS-friendly domestic goddess, just you wait!!

I think you're right - its much easier to be creative and make ibs-friendly meals, etc when you have the ingredients at your fingertips. And you'll probably find it waaaay less stressful knowing that you've got all these things you can make which will hopefully equal less tummy trouble!

I LOVE this idea. But why wait? I don't mean the cooking part, but the planning-to-be-a-Domestic-Goddess-part.

Get yourself a nice, attractive 3-ring binder with dividers and make yourself an IBS-Friendly Domestic Goddess Cookbook. Spend some time going through all your fave incredible recipes in here, and print them all out. It may take awhile, but what's your hurry? It's fun!

I love organization.....

Bev

P.S.: My cookbook is bright red with my little smilie tummy and squiggly toes on the front. And it's STUFFED.

The planning is half the fun! I'm not quite in the same boat, but kinda - I do have my own kitchen, but it's half the size of a small closet, with no counters and very little in the way of cabinets. It's VERY difficult to cook in here, so I often rely on whatever I can make in either the crockpot or the Foreman grill! But I do exactly what Bev suggested... printing off recipes like mad, so I'm ready to try all sorts of good things when I have the room to have ingredients on hand all the time. It's a lot easier than doing searches to find stuff when the cooking whim strikes!

ps - My recipe binder is a 1960s number (picked up at a thrift shop for $1) covered with this awful red fabric in a print of teapots and cooking utensils. But I love it!

Hiya!
I think you are totally right, it makes all the sense in the world for me to start trying to find recipes I like now, even if I can't test them all out until I have my own kitchen back. Okay, so that means I have until December to put together a bunch of recipes and make my own little cookbook.
Since I won't be able to make a lot of them, though, maybe you can just tell me your favs and I can get a good start from there? I am still a little scared of veggies, so any recipes where some veg is easily added in and digested would be cool 'cause maybe I can get myself more used to eating them. Soy stuff is a bit of a problem for me, the only thing I've been able to find here is soy milk, one kind of soy yogurt and some soy cheese that was absolutely _horrible_. I know it will be easier in Canada, but I think for now I have to avoid recipes that have a lot of soy-subsitutions.
Let me know, if you can! Either here, or you can eMail me on Valerie_Skye@hotmail.com. I'd really appreciate it.. I am so excited!

I have the same kitchen accomadations! Since I live in a studio apartment, the kitchen is only a small counter, a small oven, and small fridge. Anytime i make a stirfry, my whole apartment smells strongly like soy sauce for 4-5 days, no lie!
