Hi I just went to Trader Joe's and picked up a box of No Pudge Brownie mix. It says to add vanilla yogurt can I add soy yogurt? Do you think it would bake right? If not, what else can I use in place of the yogurt?

Yes, I use soy yogurt and it works GREAT. I've also heard that you can use unsweetened applesauce... but I'd recommend the yogurt.

You can use unsweetened applesauce? I didn't know that, I can't handle soy stuff, so I hadn't bought the no-pudge because of that...I may have to try this now....

Yep! It says so right on the box. You should give them a try! They're highly addicting.

What flavor did you buy? (The only flavor I could find was Cappuccino, and I didn't care for it.)
Yes, you can use soy yogurt, but I used applesauce instead. They came out fine, in fact hubby like them, it's just a personal preference -- I didn't. I couldn't find the chocolate flavor.
Rats.

Is this the one in the white paper bag? If so, I tried it a really long time ago, pre-IBS. I didn't have vanilla yogurt in the house and my mom suggested I just throw in what I had, which was cherry. It added a really nice cherry flavor in with the chocolate, not too strong. Obviously now I'd have to use the soy variety instead of dairy. Man I miss yogurt more than anything! The soy products are good in recipes but having grown up on really good, tart, homemade plain yogurt, I just can't get used to anything else. My mom even says that as babies my brothers and I would spit out anything storebought. I really hope my IBS one day either resolves itself or stabilizes enough that I can just eat some yummy yogurt with cucumber, garlic, and mint. Mmmmm. My mom always told me it was good for my tummy (I guess for the probiotic) so it was always the first thing she gave me, and later the first thing I gave myself, whenever I got D. Little did I know I was just exacerbating the problem! Sorry for the tangent .... enjoy the brownies! Amanda

I made the mint flavored ones with applesauce and a teaspoon of vanilla extractlast night; they're soo good. The mint flavor is a little strong, kinda overpowers the chocolate, but yummy nonetheless!
