Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Getting IBS under control

When I was 17yrs. old I got IBS even though I didn't know til I was 19. That was last year in June or July. It was mild in the beginning. My stomache would hurt off and on but it was really painful but not as painful as it is now of course. When I was 19 I has a really severe attack but I didn't know it at the time since I didn't know I had IBS. I went to the hospital the next day. Not to my family doctor though. That day I went I was really sick. I had so much gas and was so full from the gas I ate like 2 bites of bread the whole day. The doctor said I have celiac disease or IBS. He gave me Dicetel. The next day I woke up early in the morning to go to the bathroom. I thought I had to go but I didn't then I got so nauseous and my stomache was hurting when I was walking back to my bedroom I thought I was going to pass out. Then the severe spasms and cramps started. It was so painful I could barely crawl to my bed. I was screaming and crying it was bad. It felt like someone took a chainsaw and shoved it in my stomache and was shredding my insides. My mom had to run and give me Dicetel. Most of the pain went away fortuneately. I was so scared because at the time I didn't know what IBS really was and I thought I was going to be rushed to the hospital. Weeks later after I had the horrible tests. I found out I had IBS. Since I didn't know I had it when it was mild and didn't know until it was severe will it ever get under control?
