Could you guys tell me where you buy your soy parmesan cheese. We have a health food store 70 miles away and I did have my sister check for it there. She said they did have it, but in very small containers and it was extremely expensive. Like $7. for a container that only was 4 oz. So many of these great sounding recipes call for soy parmesan and some of them call for large amounts. Is this the same story for you guys---expensive and small containers? Or am I missing a good place to buy it cheaper? Web site? GNC store? Or, is there something I can substitute for soy parmesan that's IBS safe and easier to find? Thanks for any info.

Veggie Lovers makes a container of soy parmesan that is the same size as the regular dairy kind. It runs about $3.99. That seems like way too much for such a small amount. I am sure there are other brands available as well. Also I get mine in the regular grocery store. Look in the produce section...this is where alot of stores hide all the non-dairy products.

Good Luck

I buy mine either in the natural foods section of my local supermarket or at a health food store. The brand I use is Soymage Vegan Parmesan. I can't remember how much I paid, but I looked online and two online stores had 4 oz. containers for under $3. I agree that $7 is horrible... you should definitely be able to get it a lot cheaper!

Yep. Health food store. My local grocers don't carry it -- and neither does the LOCAL health food store. I have to drive 30 miles south to the MAIN health food store. (Silly, eh?)

But when I make a "health food run," I stock up on supplies:

1. Soy Dream Non-Dairy Mocha Fudge Dessert (YUM!) (Well, not so much lately 'cause I'm on a sugaaa-free diet);

2. Soymage Vegan Pamersan Alternative by Soyco Foods (yep, it's a 4-oz. bottle, but I don't remember the cost);

3. Amy's frozen SOY cheese pizza (several);

4. Better Than Soy cream cheese;

5. Better Than Soy sour cream;

6. Soy yogurt;

7. Soy Garden "butter" (several cartons) -- LOVE this stuff!

8. Soy cheeses (in bulk): cheddar, mozzarella, etc.

Make it a fun trip down those 70 miles. Take a friend. Stop along the way and have a picnic with your home made soluble fiber goodies. Enjoy the scenery. The joy isn't necessarily the destination; it's the experience in getting there.

Then you can FEAST YOUR EYES on all the incredible goodies at the health food store! You'll be blown away by all the IBS-safe stuff there! Oh, and be sure to ask for the Ginger Altoids (my health food store doesn't have them yet) and No-Pudge Brownie Mix (again, no luck for me). (BTW, be prepared for "sticker shock;" nothing at the health food store is cheap.)

Have fun!

I buy mine in the produce section of my local grocery store, by the tofu. It is Galaxy Nutritional Foods Veggie Parmesan. I almost think it is $2.99 for an 8 oz container. I usually buy it over the regular parm for the rest of the family because it is less than the Kraft regualar brand. We use it all the time.

I have found IBS friendly products at a store called Trader Joe's. They are all across the U.S. and the prices are reasonable. You can also order from them on line a TraderJoes.com. If you do not have one check you major grocery stores. I have found several have a fair amount of products and cheaper than the health food stores.

Okay, has anyone had joy in sourcing decent soy cheeses in the UK. I was well chuffed when I found some in a health food store near my office, but everything except the cream cheese was GROSS. Totally inedible. And they didn't have ANY parmesan. Please.... I love parmesan!!!
