Good Morning everyone! I was wondering something. I know with IBS we should avoid dark meats, (dark chicken/turkey). But was wondering something. I saw in the store they have breast ground turkey and chicken, and then what I presume to be ground with dark and white meat (OBVIOUSLY MUCH CHEAPER.)What do all of you buy and how does it affect you if at all? I am scared to try the mixed version, I am the big D/and the "umm...gassy one!" :ha

Definitely go for ground turkey/chicken breasts. That's what I use, and what Heather recommends.

Hi Tanya,

I'm the same as you -- Big D with Gas. Fun, ain't it?

Yeah, ground WHITE meat turkey, the leanest you can buy; Heather even recommends asking the butcher for help, just to make sure you don't end up with ground dark meat and/or parts. Ew.

I've tried both in my spinach turkey loaf, and I can always tell when they've thrown in some dark or fatty turkey meat because it always comes out much more moist. Not necessarily a good thing ......

I bought the brand called HoneySuckle White prepackaged. It says Extra Lean 2%, White turkey. And just to add:
Net Weight is 1.20 ld, price was $3.66! Should I trust this brand??????? They also have the all white breast Turkey cutlets....all bought at Kroger!

That is what I buy. I have no problem with it and the cutlets are good. I have also tried their sausage but I think it is higher in fat. I just don't eat as much, like 1/2 of one. I would be careful of Predue ground chicken. I bought it a couple times and didn't bother looking at the label. I had a bad attack after it. It turned out to be high, really high in fat. I was shocked.

Thanks Heidi. I will look out for the Perdue. Do you have a Kroger there? I've been to New Your City 3 times....in High School! Ha......the old choir days!

No I don't have a Kroger out here. Can you believe I have only been to NYC once. I stayed there over night waiting for a flight back to Buffalo. I have never actually seen the city. We came in at midnight from Grenada and I had to leave the early the next morning from the hotel to the airport.

Girl you gotta' go! Everyone should! I want to take hubby Tim there so badly! I want to go around the Christmas Holidays with him, and go again in the fall sometime and picnic in Central Park! By the way, had the white turkey breast earlier/ground, loved it, totally safe!
