ohernan - Hi and welcome to our IBS family boards! It's funny that you should ask this question about Lipton Onion Soup Mix. I just used it the other day and I didn't have any probs.

Here are the ingr: dehydrated onions, salt, cornstarch, onion powder, sugar, caramel color, corn syrup solids, yeast extract, natural flavors (???). I can't see anything that would be harmful, except we don't know what "natural flavors" they used, hopefully nothing that would cause an attack.

Are you IBS-C, D, A or other?

Look over the Recipe Exchange and you'll find a bunch of good recipes there. The search function is a good tool to get used to using, too. So, before you ask a question about something, try searching for it to see if it's been talked about on a previous thread.

Again, welcome and keep on postin'!

Hi!
Sharon (the recipe queen of this board) used Lipton onion soup mix in a recipe she posted for me for Butternut Squash soup so I guess it should be ok. Might be better with other ingrediants added to it perhaps...

This is super easy, yummy, fast and serves a crowd.
In a large casserole dish, combine and cover tightly:
2 cups NON instant rice (I like Jasmine)
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 big package Lipton Onion Soup Mix
4 cups water.
Micro high for 10 min. Micro medium for 20 min. Stand 10 min. During the stand time, add 1 cup cooked peas and 2 chopped green onions. (Alternately throw in 1 cup of whatever veggy you like - sometimes I use a peas and carrot niblet mix)

Han - what's "peas and carrot niblet mix"???? Sounds alien to me!

Glad to see that the Lipton onion soupmix is ok - I love those mixes, but recently got rid of some of the other flavors because they had MSG. I know the Knorr's Vegetable soup mix does, and I think a few of the Lipton's did as well.

Sharon,
If she means what I think she means, it's a frozen mix of green peas and diced carrots.

HanSolo and Sarah - boy, you guys sure have funny names for things. In New Jersey, we just called them frozen peas and carrots!!! How original!

I want to send you a book on speaking Canadian. EH! You crack me up. You know the box that has two packages that are roughly (I'll put this in inches for you ... mmmm 6 by 6 inches!?) Put one of them in.

HS - We have a book called CANAJAN, EH? by Mark M. Orkin with illustrations by Isaac Bickerstaff. We got it when we were in BC a few years back. It has a drawing of a beaver on the front dressed in a RCMP uniform and an American flag stuck in his twig dam.

Think I should read it again?

BTW, thanks for your answer. That's what I thought, but I think your Canajan is rusty!!!

My Canajan is totally AOKEH! Anything else I can translate for you, you just let me know. Maybe I'll type it in COLOUR (and NO, that is not a spelling mistake!)

Onions are NOT good for me so I will have to stay away from this recipe. Does anyone else have MAJOR problems with onions? I get noxious gas after eating anything with onions...my DH has decided to make it his quest to make sure I don't eat them...he must be afraid the fumes will kill him during his sleep. Sometimes I even wish I could sleep in a different room! I am hoping that the probiotic (florastor) I am using will help with the gas and so far it has.
