Have you tried Heather's peppermint chocolate cake?
It reminds me a bit of brownies and even has a chocolate glaze. I substitute almond extract for the peppermint, and it is very delicious and easy to make.

Okay, so why did you direct this to me? Have I established a reputation?

Believe it or not, I haven't made her cake. Oh, I saw it in the book, you bet! But I was afraid of it. I'm SOOOOO a chocoholic, and if I can't stop with one brownie, how could I stop with one slice of cake?

I'm STILL "catching it" from my husband over those 2 brownies last week -- I don't DARE make a cake! (But thanks, pretty lady!)

Bev, you haven't tried the peppermint chocolate cake?!?! Oh my, are you missing out! I can just hear it calling your name now....Bevvvvvvv.....Bevvvvvv

Maybe you can make it for a get-together or someone else's birthday or something, so you only get to have one piece (and then someone else gets the leftovers!). THis is what I do....because that cake is so doggone good, I wouldn't be able to stop at one piece either

You're quite the little temptress, aren't you, dear?!? Well I'm strong, see, I can resist such things!

(now what page was that recipe on?)

And here I thought I was the only chocolate addict!!!!
The whole cake? Really? You'd eat it that fast?

Guess what? Me too!!!

I don't fight it but darn that cake would tempt me out of my gourd. Maybe I'll just wait until I have to take a cake somewhere, like to a pot luck, then I KNOW I'll only get one piece of it....

No reputation at all. I just knew you liked brownies, and since I love that cake I figured it might be a nice variation. I can relate to eating too much at once. I often have that problem with sweets. At least these are low fat.

Today I made the no pudge brownies and added almond extract and a few vegan chocolate chips. Yum! Maybe a few pecans next time....

I love this cake! I ran out of almond the other day, so just used all vanilla. I don't like the peppermint version - too minty!

Okay, what flavor of No Pudge did you buy? Cappuccino?

You need to do a taste test. You made the No Pudge, so now ya gotta make the ADBs. Let us know which is best.

I just love taste tests.

I just bought the regular flavor. I like the ADB, but the no pudge is really convenient when I have a 2 year old screaming for attention. The yogurt adds a nice texture.
