To everyone out there who consumes the Quaker Instant Oatmeal; they have added Clacium which means added milk ingredients!! Read ingredients first before purchasing!! Sue

Calcium *can* be from dairy, but usually not. Normally they add Calcium Citrate or something.

Was it a flavored kind, or plain? Just wondering if they added it in for the type of flavor it was....

H i Mags, I bought the Quaker Maple & Brown Sugar one. The usual. In big writing it says " NOW A SOURCE OF CALCIUM",now contains modified milk ingredients. In the ingredients in big black words it says " contains MILK,SOY and SULPHITE ingredients. Maybe there was always some milk ingredients,I don't have another older box but I'm going to check at the store with the other variety's. I just wanted to let everyone know about the extra milk ingredients. Sue

I found that out the hard way about 4 months ago. Thanks for sharing with everyone.

The instant oatmeal that gave me problems personally was the flavored kinds in the packets. I just use regular oatmeal and add soy milk. It's more nutritious that way anyway.

Quaker instant oatmeal, the cinnamon & spice is definitely milk-free. If you see a U or a K on any food by itself or with a P, Pareve, or Parve written on it...it is safe. If you see a U or a K with D or Dairy next to it, then it contains dairy. Now the trick is a food that has U or K with D.E. next to it...it means dairy free. So most of the Quaker Instant Oatmeals do contain dairy, but I'm still buying the Cinnamon & Spice which is dairy free. I've been studying labels for almost 5 years now...have 2 boys highly allergic to milk. Hope this helps. Also, if there is no U or K, then read the directions carefully...there are many hidden words for milk (including natural flavors). There are milk proteins also found in some ingredients. I usually don't buy something without the U or K on it unless I call the company and get the scoop. Sometimes it's made on the same line as milk products. I hope this wasn't too confusing...if so, I'll try to clarify.
