I am looking for a good recipe for smoothies and would like to add a safe protein to it. Any ideas?

You can do 2 things: do a search for them on here and look through the recipe archives for them as well. I like using rice milk, very ripe bananas, and a small amount of sugar for a smoothie. If it is still thin then you can add crush ice to it.

Here's an old thread about smoothies: web page

As for protein, I sometimes throw a little dried egg white (find it on the baking aisle at the supermarket) in mine. There have been discussions about what protein powders are good on the Boards before so you might do a Search across all Boards with no time limit looking for the phrase:

protein powder

You don't need a recipe to make smoothies just take soy milk, one frozen fruit portion and one fresh fruit portion and blend. That is the basic way. I add soy yogurt, acacia, stevia and rice protein to mine. You could add a pasteurized egg white I suppose. Soy milk contains 6.5 grams of fiber per cup.
A frozen banana and chocolate soy milk make a malt-like drink that is excellent.

every morning I have a smoothie made with 1 cup almond milk, 1 frozen banana, and 1-2 tbs carob powder. I add acacia fiber to that and blend. I keep a bunch of bananas peeled and frozen all the time. I use almond milk because soy doesn't agree with me.
