Hot Carob - Good Coffee Substitute

I was really craving chocolate and thought I would experiment with carob powder:
1 mug boiled water
2 heaping teaspoons of carob powder
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
Splash of soy milk
The carob powder dissolved amazing well in hot water! I mixed all these together, added a little extra brown sugar for taste. Great coffee substitue for me since coffee/chocolate have the same indulgence factor  So far, no ill effects. I get trapped gas and bloating really easy but I seem to be doing fine.

I have a local health food store called "Sprouts" kinda like Whole Foods or Henry's. They have a bulk section and I just found it with the spices. Luckily I can buy a lot of the IBS items in the book, in bulk like oatmeal and rice saving a lot of money. If you don't have a local health food store, I would try the web, seems that you can find whatever you want online these days
Just had a cup for dessert - so amazed that my stomach tolerates what tastes just like chocolate, usually I bloat right up but nothing - it's amazing! I read that while chocolate is acidic, carob is alkaline so it almost has the opposite effect. It has a real "dark" chocolate taste, not like "Swiss Miss" so I would only hunt it down if you like that darker "cocoa" taste. Great stuff!
