Turkey Gravy and noodles- Is this to much fat?

Simple Turkey and Noodles 1 box of shell pasta 1lb. lean ground turkey 2 cans of Campbell's turkey gravy it dairy free 1 tsp salt 1 tsp ground pepper Boil and drain pasta. Brown the ground turkey in a skillet while pasta cooks. Mix the pasta, turkey, gravy, salt and pepper together and serve. Makes 8- cup servings ok the gravy says that theres 1 gram of fat in 1/4 of a cup so is this to much fat? Thanks emmasmom ibs-c gas

Hi there,
No, you should be just fine. Just don't swamp your food in the gravy if you end up using more fat in the recipe. The general guideline for IBS is to minimize your fat intake to 25% of your diet. 1 gram of fat contains only 9 calories. In general, if you stick to the diet for IBS, you shouldn't have to calorie count. You should be just fine with that recipe! I would make sure there are no other IBS triggers in the gravy such as High Fructose Corn Syrup, Casein, any other artificial sweeteners, or hydrogenated oils.

Thank you for your help I have been wanting to try this recipe! I am and always have been confussed on the fat percent of this diet. I am not very with math this is confussing to me. So if something says 5 grams of fat and the servong size is 2 then theres 5 grams of fat in 2 of them? Can you help? Thanks again. emmasmom ibs-c gas

Yes...So if the serving size is 2 cups and the label reads 5 grams of fat...there are 5 grams of fat in 2 cups. There are 9 calories in every gram of fat. So in this example 5 grams of fat is 45 calories...it should also read on the labels what percentage is coming from fat.
