Hi All,
I have a recipe for sweet potato muffins that calls for 1 1/2 cup sugar. Is it possible to reduce the amount of sugar to say, maybe 3/4 cup or even 1/2, without having to make any other changes to the recipe? How about substituting brown sugar for the white in the recipe? It calls for 1 1/2 cup white sugar but that seems so much to me.

Any ideas on what you would use?

thanks

When you lessen the sugar it messes with the texture of the product. Instead of altering the recipe (too much), try to find a recipe with less sugar to begin with. Muffin recipes online are a dime a dozen.

I read one time were you can cut the sugar in half in a recipe and it won;t affect it. I do on almost on half of what I bake and it turns out fine. LIke itf it sayd 1/ 1/4 I leave the 1/4 out. Try it and see.

Well, a half would be 3/4 cup. You think that's too much?

Thanks so much

I don't think it sounds like to much at all. Try and see. If I was making it I would just either leave the half cup out or just do 1 1/4. Just remeber its going through the whole bread not in one serving. hth

Or could you maybe increase the servings? Like cut the muffins in half or thirds so you're getting less per serving?
