Finally posting after nine months of reading. I fell in love with this smoothie before I discovered I had IBS a year ago. So I made a few changes and this is what I came up with.

Into the blender I put:
1 cup of either soy or almond milk (I make mine with almonds and water)
1/8 cup of quick oats or 1/4 cup cooked oatmeal
1/4 tsp of ground flaxseed meal
1 tablespoon of ground nuts of any kind (or peanut butter)
5-6 dark chocolate chips (if using peanut butter)
1 teaspoon of turbinado if I just want it sweeter
1 frozen banana
1/8 cup of frozen blueberries
2 frozen strawberries or two chunks of any frozen fruit.

Blend and enjoy.

Ok, this one sounds great too.... I DID have to look up Turbinado, as I had no clue what that was....

Turbinado = popular brand "Sugar In The Raw"

Q: approx how many cups does this recipe make??

I've worked on the recipe so that it fills an average drinking glass to within 1/4 inch of the top. I guess that's 12 ounces, so a cup and a half.

Honey or any kind of sugar will work. I usually use nothing but the fruit itself for sweetening.

I can't do the nuts or peanut butter (allergies), but otherwise it sounds great. I would love to start doing a smoothie for breakfast every AM, since I'm one of those who spends hours "getting ready" for work - ending up cleaning the kitchen, etc., and I'm still running late!
Does anyone know of any good protein powder we - as in IBSers can use? I've bought 2 and took them back to the HFS because they had whey in them. Any suggestions appreciated. I just know I need a better balance of carbs and protein in my diet. Thanks!
