Hey all,
I find that I can't really tolerate apples (so sad!) these days at all. Peeled, baked, made into sauce...it all bloats me from here to tomorrow. So. Do you think I could use pear sauce in all the recipes for breads, etc. that call for applesauce? Found some at Trader Joe's yesterday...
Thanks for any help/advice, Jen

I don't see why not - I used a peach/applesauce blend in banana bread a few weeks ago - turned out fine!
However, I don't really understand how you could tolerate pears any better than apples - both are very high in fructose (I'm not sure why else it would bother you?)
-------------------- IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!

Jen,
I have ate that before and it is yummy. But that was before I followed EFI. Some how I remember it being with a lot of sugar and corn syrup? you be better with making poached pears and puree them. It sounds good pear sauce I might try to make some. Let me know what the ingredients are from the one from TJ. Thanks

Not sure either. But pears don't bloat me the way apples do. It's like magic how they make my stomach balloon...

The TJ pear sauce ingredients are: barlett pears, water, sugar, lime juice, lemon juice, natural flavor I always wonder what things like "natural flavor" are. I've never bothered to investigate. Hmmmm.
