Has anyone tried the Earth Balance Buttery Sticks for baking? I made a batch of my annual Christmas shortbread cookies on Saturday using this instead of butter, and was very disappointed in the flavour. Rather than having the usual nice, light buttery flavour, they ended up having almost a stale, oily kind of taste.
And the stuff wasn't cheap, either!

I had another cookie yesterday, and it seems the "oily" flavour mellowed out a bit. They're still not the same, though.
Good luck with yours - the recipe could probably make all the difference - these particular cookies rely heavily on a "buttery" flavour, so the Earth Balance might be perfectly fine in something like gingerbread cookies, chocolate cookies, or anything else where "butter" wouldn't be the dominant flavour.

I found the Cisco (ALL VEGETABLE) butter flavor shortening works best in cookies.

I've used them for my snickerdoodles, chocolate chip, and oatmeal cookies, and they've turned out great! If anything, I use a little less than it says. It just sells out so quickly at my local whole foods that I can only get it about once a month!
