We used to have that problem in Fremont.

I haven't seen you around, Sharon Mello - but if you're lurking, did you mean Fremont, CA? I lived there for over 10 yrs and just moved a couple years ago to San Jose! I'm still in Fremont every day as my friends all live there.

Saw this when I was searching for something and thought it was funny. Small world!

She doesn't do the boards much anymore. She opened up her own business and is really busy. I emailed her about one of her recipes and that was her reply to me.

I made this tonight, and hubby and I couldn't get over how much it's like my "MOI" that I made when we were first married. Back in '64, when I was single, my neighbor served it to me and I liked it so much she taught me how she made it. "MOI" stands for "My Own Idea;" it was her made-up recipe. The only difference between Torbetta's and my old neighbor's is the following additions:

Much more chili powder
Chili sauce
Mexican-style canned corn

(All of which I added.) YUM!

BIG thumbs up here.....

Is this the same as onion powder or minced onion or something?

Which do you think would be easier to tolerate? The real onion cooked with the turkey? Or the dried onion?

You can find them in the spice isle, they are very common.

Quote:

onion flakes = dried minced onion = dehydrated onion flakes Notes: These are onions that have been chopped and then dehydrated. They lack much of the pungency of fresh onions, but they're convenient and great for backpacking. Equivalents: 1 small onion = 1/3 cup = 1 teaspoon onion powder = 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes Substitutes: onion powder (1 teaspoon onion powder = 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes) OR onion (1/3 cup chopped fresh onion = 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes)

There are stewed tomatoes and there are stewed Italian tomatoes... the Italian one, has all the ingredients YOU ( I personally do fine with them ) are not wanting....the other is usually just tomatoes, salt, & maybe pepper and sugar.

I'll try to remember next time I go to the store to look at them closer and see what I find.
