This recipe from the first year book calls for a 10" springform pan... Can I use anything else? Is that like an angelfood cake pan?

A springform pan looks like a normal cake pan only larger and the bottom comes off for easier removal of the cake. Usually cakes can go into whatever pan. The thing to remember is the size. You don't want to pour too much batter into a too small pan. An angelfood cake pan should work, or bundt pan or two normal cake pans, but the time baking will be different.
