Avacado - how to know when ready to eat?

Does anyone know a way to tell if the avacado is ready to eat? Should it be soft and squisy or just slightly soft to touch? Thanks. Debbie IBS-C (?)

I definitely prefer Haas over the others. They are very flavorful. If you want to eat it right away, the avocado should yield to the touch and feel sort of like pressing on a ball of playdough. Get them just soft to the touch or firm if you are going to keep them around for a few days. Store in a paper bag and they will ripen up quickly.
