My sister (who is IBS-D) is getting married this July and I volunteered to help her figure out how to make a IBS-safe wedding cake. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm getting married in September and hope that somehow mine can be IBS-safe as well. But, I love to bake and make cakes every now and then. I find they are easy to make substitutions. For example, take any recipe and you can use soy butter, applesauce instead of oil, and all egg whites. As for frosting, most are just sugar, so they are safe...just sometimes high in fat. Hope that helped a bit...but your best bet probably is to get a regular recipe and then make the changes. If the bride doesn't want the typical wedding cake, you can always do a yummy angel food cake with strawberry filling or something like that!
