Hi, I made the Smoky Eggplant Hummus from Heather EFIBS book. I pureed it quite a long time and I still do see some /few specks of eggplant seeds - not whole seeds but specks. Does this happen - I could not get it completely speck free - I am very anxious to try it as I really need a good hummus recipe but want to check and make sure that other people find the same as I do with the specks? Thanks , Debbie IBS-A

Joe is the hummus maker in the family. He says he just never looks that closely at it. But he doesn't remove the seeds or anything, so I wouldn't think the little specs would be a problem. It may be your blender just doesn't like to grind those up all the way.

Enjoy this - it's yummy.

Thanks Sand - you are helpful as usual. I do plan on enjoying this tommorow - I cannot find a pita without calcium priopante in it so I think I will just spread the hummus on a slice of french bread?

Calcium propionate is just some chemical mixture: web page

Here's a list of names dairy hides under: web page

So enjoy your pita!

Thanks, I guess I thought that I read somewhere on the site that calcium propionate (preservative) is not good for IBS? It would be great to be able to buy store boughten pita. Debbie IBS-A
