I posted this before, but didn't get any replies. So trying again. I have some good cookbooks and would like to make recipes to take to places that I can eat.

Can most recipes in cookbooks be changed to suit a persons needs with IBS? What I mean is if it ask for milk and eggs, can you subsitute them for soy milk and egg whites? Will it taste the same or slightly different?

Thanks, Karen

Honestly, all you can do is experiment and see if you like the results - that's what we do. They probably will taste slightly different. If it's a recipe that has a lot of seasonings in it, you might never know the difference, but you'll find that some things just can't be converted.

Remember to watch the fat content in cookbook recipes - most of them are TERRIBLE for that. You want to avoid using oils and butter, even margarine, almost completely.

Good luck!
