Hello, Can anyone tell me if there are any vegans following Heather's IBS diet. Looking at it - I can probably not use the fish but it will be hard to not use the egg whites in so many recipes? Thanks, Debbie, Ontario, Canada

There are vegans on the EFI (Heather's Eating For IBS) Diet. If I remember correctly, Retrograde is a vegan. She doesn't post very often, but you can look at her old posts. For example, here's a post where she explains how she modifies one of my chicken recipes.
You can do a Search on the Recipe Board with no time limit for vegan. You'll get a number of hits - perhaps some of them will be useful.

Eggs are actually really easy to substitute for in recipes. I was vegan for a time, and had no problems at all following the diet. Keep in mind that making the recipes isn't required for following the diet... you can easily just soluble and insoluble fiber foods as-is, without doing a whole lot of baking and elaborate cooking.
This page should help you with substituting eggs: http://www.veganmania.com/recipes/pages/egg_substitutes.htm I've used the water-and-baking-powder substitute in baking quite a lot, and it always worked out fine.
Hope that helps!

I'm vegan and I find that it works really well with the IBS diet, since we already don't eat dairy or red meat. Most of Heather's book isn't vegan, but I've enjoyed making a few things, like the garden veggie lo mein and the peppermint fudge cake.
Also most vegan recipes you find in cookbooks or online are suitable or can be adjusted. Here are some suggestions: Use white flour if it calls for whole wheat flour. In baking, replace 2/3 of the oil or margarine with applesauce. If you need to fry something, use a non stick pan so you can use as little oil as possible. If you can find it, use low fat tofu. Seitan/wheat gluten can be used instead of chicken in many of Heather's recipes.
Hope that helps!
