angel food cake is "lighter"- more like a fatfree sponge. I have a recipe for one that uses egg yolks, I haven't tried it with subbing egg whites but it would probably make it even lighter- let me know if you want it.

Angel food cake is basically egg whites, flour, and sugar - no fat, no egg yolks. I don't know if there's a UK equivalent, though.

I'm new here but wanted to answer you on this. Yellow Cake mix in the US would be the same as Fairy Cake mix.Hope this helps.
