This was actually listed in one of my cookbooks - What's Cooking in Philadelphia. It was so cute, I thought I'd share - plus I think it meets the IBS guidelines for recipes!

1. Never both be angry at once.

2. Never yell at each other unless the house is on fire.

3. Yield to the wishes of the other as an exercise in self-discipline if you can't think of a better reason.

4. If you have a choice between making yourself or your mate look good, choose your mate.

5. If you feel you must criticize, do so lovingly.

6. Never bring up mistakes of the past.

7. Neglect the whole world rather than each other.

8. Never let the day end without saying at least one compliment to your partner.

9. Never meet without an affectionate welcome.

10. Never go to bed mad.

11. If you have made a mistake, talk it out and apolgize.

12. Remember, it takes two to make an argument. The one who is wrong is the one who will be doing the most talking.

Actually, I have to admit the first thing I thought of when I read this was Shell & Shane! LOL Not that they are the only happy marriage around here or anywhere - well, you know how cute they are through Shell's posts, so I'm sure you know what I mean!

.. they're great and true too.

I really agree with the one about not going to bed mad. I'm a firm believer in not going anywhere mad as you never know what can happen in life and I like to think that the last thing I have said to my husband or son is always "I love you".

Hope that doesn't sound too corny.

I have to agree Kerrie! I never let my husband leave without telling him I love you. You just never know what life has in store and I would hate to be the last words be something I would regret!

PS - Mags - this is probably hanging on our Happy Marriage Spokepersons fridge. Shell and Shane are just adorable I agree.
