I realize it splits up into 12 servings, but even that little amount of an artificial sweetener can be a trigger for many (including me!).

Actually, the store brand (Hannaford) had dairy in it before Cool Whip did! Thankfully, it still doesn't bother me - I was half expecting it to, because I'm SO sensitive to dairy, but I guess the amount is just so small that it's not a problem for me. Yay for that!

I finally checked the other day and yes all the brands (store & Cool Whip), every last one contains dairy now. I couldn't find any container that said "non-dairy whipped topping".

Hey! That's the store I go to when I visit my mom in VT. We don't have them around here.

You're so lucky it doesn't bother you. I'm not messing with it anymore. I wonder if Whole Foods has anything safe....

Here is a recipe for a DF homemade whipped topping. I haven't made it so I don't have a clue as to how good it is...but it may be worth a try.

Whipped Topping

3/4 cup very cold rice, soy, or almond milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
2 tablespoon water

Place medium sized stainless mixer bowl & electric beaters in freezer for at least 1 hour. Combine gelatin with water and microwave for 20 seconds. Remove softened gelatin and allow to cool to room temp. Combine cold milk and sugar in mixing bowl, and slowly add gelatin. Beat on high speed until forms stiff peaks. Yields approx. 2 cups. Use immediately.

Ooh, thanks Kandee! Cool Whip bothered me once even before they added the dairy, so I've just been avoiding whipped toppings. I'll definitely give this one a try.

We talked about this in this Board a long time ago. It's non-dairy, AND they have it in chocolate as well:

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

I never thought to look there. DOH. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!

These bars are incredible. I'm so glad they don't bother my tummy, 'cause one bar counts as only 2 pounts on the WW program -- and I had TWO of yesterday and today! Wah-HOOOO!
