now have dairy in them. I found german chocolate and it did not have dairy. I e-mailed Duncan Hines to ask if they had any other w/out dairy and they said they have changed them up and they now have dairy in them all. But like I said the german chocolate I found did not. I know I used to get other flavors w.out it but no more. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this.

Oh no! Well doesn't that just suck

I hate it when companies do that. Thanks for the headsup though.

I think I have noticed that all the main brands of cake mixes have some dairy now. I am still making them since trace amounts of dairy does not bother me but it is annoying. One suggestion is to look in the natural foods section. There are cake mixes there. I haven't read the ingredients of them but could some time. Pillsbury cake mixes have been 89c where I work and so I bought a few of those.
I would be happy to check on ingredients of foods at my grocery store when I work if anyone needed that.

Hmm. I wonder if the mixes have actually always had dairy but so little that they didn't need to 'fess up until that new law about specifying dairy kicked in.

I have boxes of Duncan Hines:
Dark Chocolate Fudge - Nonfat Dry Milk is listed as the very last ingredient
Classic White Cake - Whey listed about 2/3rds of the way through the ingredients
Lemon Supreme - No dairy that I can see
Spice - No dairy that I can see

The Classic White Cake mix is brand new - I bought it this week. The others could be as much as 3 months old. I think I'll hold onto the boxes until I buy new ones and see if the ingredient lists look the same.

Like LittleMinnie I don't think a small amount of dairy will bother me, but I do hate that there seems to be dairy in everything. Thanks for the heads-up.

Figures... these stupid companies can't ever leave well enough alone.

Although, I'll still use them. Even though I'm very sensitive to dairy products, dairy in baked goods doesn't seem to bother me at all, now that I'm stable.

well we have a ton in the storage locker and as of when I bought a mix last week at meijers the Meijer brand cake mixes are still without dairy! so I have that as a fallback, but if it changes I guess I'll just go the totally scratch router.. we're heading closer to that anyway

I did a little poking around and found a couple of posts about this on other Boards:

Dairy-free Post
Galactosemia Post

Apparently the Duncan Hines website has removed the ability to contact Duncan Hines directly by email (theoretically because it's gotten so many complaints), but there are still ways to contact the company. I urge everyone to do so. Supposedly a similar campaign convinced Stella d'Oro to go back to non-dairy recipes, so maybe it will work with Duncan Hines.

Here's the contact info I pulled from the Galactosemia post:

Please write to:

Duncan Hines Consumer Affairs
PO Box 91000
Allentown, PA 18109

Or Call Duncan Hines at 1-800-362-9834

Or e-mail the parent company (Pinnacle foods corp) at:
Pinnaclefoodscorp@casupport.com

The Galactosemia site suggests you "Tell Duncan Hines that you are unhappy with the ingredient change, and ask them to please take the dairy out of their cake mixes."

I suggest you also say the cakes tasted wonderful before the changes.

Thanks. I really love being able to eat Duncan Hines cupcakes.

I bought the lemon cake mix today, I don't see any dairy in the ingredients, though I could be wrong as I'm not great at this, only on day 2 of the diet.
I also bought pillsbury vanilla frosting,it looked ok to me
