You tend to know everything, and I read in a potato thread that you purchased Klondike Rose potatoes regularily. I won't presume that you do, however perhaps you may attempt to answer my question about these specific potato. What do they taste like? Are they bland? I prefer my potatoes steamed. I am not especially fond of the mini white potatoes that I'm finally nearly finished--they are redeemable by herbs, etc. thank goodness! I recall enjoying Yukon Golds. I didn't like the texture of Russets (I hate dry stuff). I do love red potatoes (especially miniatures!) & adore purple ones! However I'm really curious about this type. I guess, I'm curious about them. They look kind of funky.
I wish I could find those purple ones in the store!!! However, they just are not available.
Thanks, Kate.

You tend to know everything,
I just about fell off my chair lauging! I like Klondike Rose. They are a boiling kind of potato which means they are more moist/oily than fluffy/dry. They are very similar to yukon golds but I think better. The flesh is gold and buttery and the skin is very thin and pink. So they would be like red potatoes and good to steam. I like to slice them very thin with the peel on and bake them in a covered casserole with salt, herbs (like rosemary or thyme) and butter spray/pat of margarine. They cook very fast this way. My husband doesn't want any other kind of potatoes but these slicers with either the red/pink potatoes I grow or the klondike rose. I hope you like them!
