This sounds so yummy, but I, like you don't do well with beans. Is this something I need to try only after slowly increasing my bean amount? Or do some people just never build up a tolerance for beans even if they introduce them slowly?
The chipolte seasoning on top of the beans would also be pretty gassy.
Did you guys have any "side effects"?
Did you guys use the soy sour cream, which is probably more gas food. I want to try this and I'm wondering if you guys eat it and just have the smelly gas...or if you can eat it without any problems at all.
Thanks!

BEANO BABY!! Either in pill form or a few drops to the first bite.... Yes, I will still have a little gas but not too bad and stinky too.... beans beans the musical fruit the more you eat the more you toot!! hehehe I know it is not funny to all.... but if you just limit yourself to a small portion (8oz) and have some kind of rice, bread, baked tortila chips, etc with it.... you don't HAVE to add the chipolte you can make this very mild....use a mild salsa. And maybe since you pureed this....it will make it easier to digest for you. I don't have any problems with the soy sour cream causing gas....you could always leave it out.

I can usually NEVER eat beans. I love black bean & refried beans but they usually kill me with gas. I tried this cause I hoped that by pureeing them I'd be O.K & guess what, I am! Oh, I do have a little gas but not that bad. I mixed it with alot of rice & didn't use any sour cream. It was sooo tasty that no matter what, I'd say it was worth a try. Just make it on night when you know you'll be home a lone LOL! as for the Chipolte, spice has never been a problem for me. Say Shell, does that beano stuff really work? I was thinking about it but it seemed so expensive to use every time I ate something that would give me gas (cause EVERYTHING seems to give me gas)

So, I made the soup on Sunday (along with the pumpkin corn bread) and it turned out really good! The details: I used Newman's Own jarred chunky salsa (mild), Pacific organic/free range chicken broth, and I added in a 1/4 tsp cumin. I didn't puree the beans, but I eat black beans regularly so this wasn't a problem. (I was a little gassy later that evening, but it wasn't bad and I had the best BM Monday afternoon! Sorry, this may be TMI for the Recipe Exchange. )
I did buy some Tofutti Sour Cream, but I've only had REAL sour cream once, many years ago, which I didn't like and I found out I didn't like the soy version either. The squeeze of lime was a much better topping, I think.
Thanks for posting this recipe, Shell. I'll be eating it often this winter.

Am I missing something in the original recipe post? I will be so embarrassed if I am just missing it! What did you use as an SFS, Shell? Or doesn't it need one?
Do you think Tostito Scoops would be SF enough to eat with this? (Bah on them changing Tostitos to add more fat).
Is this too filling as a lunch...with a piece of fruit added? Or do most of you eat it as a dinner?

I don't see where I'm suppose to add the chipolte seasoning?

No there was not chipolte seasoning in it.....someone just asked me where I found it.... (I use it in other recipes)
I usually eat some kind of bread with it... like corn bread goes very well, you could use rice too if you wanted.... put the rice in the bowl or a large plate and then spoon a smaller portion on the soup over it..., sqeeze some lime on it....YUM... I used to eat it like this. Or just some dry toast is great for dipping!
This is usually a dinner for me.... if you want to do it for lunch, just don't eat as much.

Just wanted to bump this up. I made this again today, added in about 1/2 cup of frozen corn and 1/4 T cumin, and then spooned the soup onto some steamed white rice. I didn't puree it.
Still one of my favorite, easy recipes!
