Cooked rice cereal (I made with no sugar...read my version at bottom)

Homemade Cereals Cooked Rice Cereal
(4 servings) Printable Version
1 and 1/2 cups white rice -- uncooked 2 cups lowfat milk (or soy milk -- vanilla soy milk works great) 1/4 cup sugar 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon Prepare the rice according to the directions on the package.
Combine warm cooked rice, milk, sugar, and cinnamon. Stir and serve. That's all there is to it.
If I was on Survivor, my luxury items would be cinnamon, sugar and milk so that I could share this easy, tasty treat with my tribe. They would never vote me off!

HI ALL! As many of you know I stay away from sugar! So..I made mine with rice milk and with warm raspberries on top with some of the raspberry water...this was PHENOMENAL! Enjoy however you like!

Just curious, can you use a little fruit juice as sweetener in your recipes? Maybe a little apple juice in the recipe? Many organic cereals use either apple or grape juice as sweeteners.
Also, have you tried infusing flavour into your foods with a couple strong aromatic herbal tea bags? The cooking liquid is actually herbal tea and it imparts a wonderful aroma/taste.

Hmm...tea! how would you cook it into the cereal? I was actually wondering about that myself but I had no clue where to begin!!!

Tea is the liquid base, versus water. It's rather like soup. Porridge or rice gruel/cereal is a type of 'soup.' Instead of cooking in water or broth/stock, brew some tea and use that instead of water. The possibilities are endless. Green tea/peppermint gruel? Raspberry zinger gruel? Enchanted Earl Grey gruel? I'm not sure what kind of tea you like. The tea infuses tons of flavour. Just use twice the amount of bags. Maybe Fennel/Rooibos gruel? Chai rice cereal? Cammomile Vanilla gruel?

The possibilities ARE endless...I think I'll start with blueberry tea...maybe pomegranate roobios, oh my sooo many choices!
