I have seen several recipes calling for soy parmesan, but the one time I bought it, I must have bought the wrong brand. I am picky when it comes to soy. It took me a while to find milk, cream cheese, and sour cream that I like. What brands do you guys like for parmesan and also soy yogurt??
Thanks,
Chantel

Hi, Chantel.

I like the Galaxy Vegan Parmesan Alternative made with soy (it's also GF for anyone who's gluten sensitive).

My favorite brand of soy yogurt is Whole Soy Co. I really like the strawberry and blueberry flavors because you taste the fruit more than the soy. I've tried lemon but it sure didn't taste like lemon! Ugh! I also prefer the Whole Soy Co cream cheese alternative to the Tofutti one for mixing in spreads or dips--it gives a nice texture but picks up more of the flavor of the other foods.

What soy milk do you like? I was impressed with VitaSoy creamy original and Soy Dream Vanilla flavored. Not too bad with cereal!

Like most people here, I favor Soy Delicious Purely Decadent frozen desserts (Peanut Butter Zig Zag!), but the high amount of fat in them and some other additives that I think may be a problem for me have kept me away. Maybe if I had more self-control and didn't eat 1/2 pint in one sitting I could enjoy it once again. Lol!

Thanks so much for the info. I have a fab alfredo recipe that I haven't had since starting the diet because of the parmesan cheese. I like tofutti cream cheese and haven't tried other brands since I found it.

I am very picky about soy milk. I have tried most brands only to take one swig and gag. I finally found one that is actually almost like milk. The funny thing is, after all that searching, the soy milk I found is the "Great Value vanilla soy" at walmart.
Thanks again for your help,
Chantel

I buy Galaxy Foods reduced fat veggie parmesan, and I like it a lot. I think it tastes the most "real" of any soy cheeses I've tried. It's second from the left in this photo:

Hi I like the Whole Foods 365 Brand I have to stock up though the nearest one to me is over an hour away. Plus this one tends to be about 20 cents less then the "brand" names.

...and I've been happy with it - the texture is a little different, but to me, the flavor is almost exactly like real parmesan. It's actually the only soy cheese I use at all.

As for soy yogurt, good luck there. I've tried a couple brands, and all of them have been absolutely nasty. I've given up on that one!
