I need something to use up all my Oatmeal...

I'm thinking some kind of bread. I looked in the recipe archive and was hoping for something for the breadmaker. Does anyone know if I could substitute pureed oatmeal (oat flour) for regular flour in a bread machine?

Or does anyone have any favorite recipes to utilize all this oatmeal?

Thanks!

When I have extra oatmeal I just throw it in the blender and make oat flour and then just keep it in the cupboard. You can replace oat flour in pretty much any recipe that calls for white flour and it's healthier than the refined white stuff. I make breads (no bread machine for me though) and quick breads out of it. Also pancakes too, and those are good with some of the whole oats in there as well. HTH.

I'm sure you don't want any...but I just had some on Passover and it rocked!

I would love to have oatmeal pancakes! unfortunately most oatmeal is contaminated with gluten. This guy in England has an oat farm and he keeps the oats gluten free! I'm thinking about finding out if he would sell me oat flour. mmmmmm...oat pancakes. Sounds wonderful!

great ideas Laurel...and thanks for the post E!

If he doesn't ship to the States, I'll order some and post it for you.

PS. You'd have gone crazy at the Farmer's market I went to yesterday...they had a whole stand of yummy looking gluten free breads!

Do you think it would work to stick it in the bread machine instead of bread flour? I might try it anyway... afterall, what do I have to lose? I still have like 10lbs of Oatmeal left!

It was like $18 a box! It was the only way for me to eat Matzoh on Passover. It's just oat flour and water that isn't risen...

Linz! How ARE you???? I hope you're still dancing happy!

Passover came and went...so I already got it. QUITE expensive! But tasty...so that was good

At Whole Foods they have a whole gluten free bakery here in AZ....but none of it is Kosher *sigh* Can't have everything I guess One day I might just pen up a GF bakery myself One never knows! *hugs* Sending you lots of love (and your doggies too!)
