Homemade applesauce with pears...would this work??

Hi folks

I'm sooo addicted to applesauce I was just wondering if anyone would know if doing Heather's homemade applesauce recipe with pears instead of apples would work well? Thank you!!

I haven't made Heather's recipe, so I'm not sure how much sugar is in it... you may need less sugar, honestly, I think ripe pears are a whole lot sweeter than apples. Also, is there any kind of added liquid to the recipe? If so, you'd probably decrease that, as pears are juicier than apples.

I think it would be *really* tasty, honestly. I like pears a whole lot better than I like apples, I should give this a try too. Great idea!

Yup, I did that the other day. If you have it with vanilla icecream it's even better, or add some vanilla and dollop it over rice pudding.

...I had that on honeymoon, poached with Calvados and other stuff and it was DELICIOUS and so safe.

Pear sauce sounds like a nice change. Mmmm.

Mostly when I make applesauce at home I just peel and slice the apples then nuke em until they get mushy, then smash em up with a fork. I don't add sugar, I think apples are sweet enough as as and I don't usually buy the sweetened stuff anyway.

I have some canned pears (in juice) so I think I'm going to try it! Mmm I'm excited :P

How about this recipe? It's even made with honey instead of refined sugar.

That one's baked, though... there's a lot of other ideas here... I bet you could combine a couple of them and come up with a perfect recipe.
