I made a vegan chocolate cake this weekend. I put it in the frig. But was wondering if it would be ok if I left it out next time? I like my cake room temp.
Here are the ingredents:
CAKE
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
6 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups water
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 teaspoons vanilla
FROSTING
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup soy milk
2 tablespoons margarine
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2-1 cup powdered sugar
1 dash salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

IF it were ME...I personally would have left it out. But now that I look at it... with soy milk.... I'm not sure if that would have been the right thing to do. Would also love to see what others think.

Food spoilage makes me paranoid, so I always err on the side of caution... frosted, I would refrigerate it, even if it's not totally necessary. If the cake wasn't frosted, it would definitely be fine left out.

I wouldn't because when I made Heather pumpkin pie recipe I left out the pumpkin pie. We have always done that before. However, this time the pie spoiled within a day and half. Made me so mad! I believe it was because of the soy milk.
