I have been constipated for the last 3 months. I have been forcing my bm's. I am on zelnorm and miralax. but I think that I have made many mistakes over the last few weeks. I have lost my job due to norm being able to focus. I have seen 2 GI specialist and have done a zitmark test. All this happened after a fear that i felt. I fasted for Religious reasons and now I can't get back on track. I feel that I have altered the results by just pushing out what was in my rectum. I just thought screw it I will try to eat like I have in the past. I took ensure and soups because I did think I could have a BM. I have went to ER 3 times but each time they take an x-ray and they say I have a norm colon. I feel like I am going to burst. Is there anyone out there that has had this? I have been told to eat more fiber but what can I do I have taken all the fiber. My doctor has me up to 10 caps per day and zelnorm. It started because of a fear my doctor wants me in the hospital but how will this help my IBS-C. I don't think I can take much more. What would you do? I have lost 40 lbs due to not being able to eat. I think that this is more than I can handle. I have read about the fiber but I was told to eat vegatbles and fruits and bran. I think this has cause me to be more blocked up. I feel like I am going to die if I can't get this resolved. Please tell me what I should do?

Hi! I'm not an IBS-C, and therefore probably am not the best person to reply to this, but I wanted to say that you might want to repost this over on the "Diet" board... your post will be more likely to be seen by someone who can help you, if it's over there.

Have you tried following Heather's diet? Unfortunately, most doctors tell us "vegetables and bran", and if you jump right in and eat like that, all it does is make our symptoms worse. Heather's diet - a soluble fiber base, with vegetables added in and eaten safely - really does work, as does a good fiber supplement taken in an adequate amount. Anyway, I'll hold off on any more advice till I know if you're going to repost this or not , and till I know what diet you're following. Keep posting - we can help!

...what tablets are you on? Cos some SFS tablets have sorbitol in them (a trigger) and most only have a small amount of fibre, so you have to eat LOADS to get a reasonable amount. Try something like Citrucel or Acacia instead. Have you read the info on the website? And how IBS-Cers must keep more insolubles in their diet?

Post on the "Eating..." board and you'll get a lot more responses!

I am a "C" who has been able to regulate my watching what I eat and having a packet of stevia-plus in my tea. Generally when I feel like I have a blockage I drink a cup of smooth moves tea. This is NOT RECOMMENDED for everyone as it has a stimulant in it and could cause major cramping. For me what little cramping it causes is worth it if that is what it takes to "GET IT OUT".

Perhaps a change in GI's is in order!
