Almost forgot to post this!

Last week I was looking at a box of spiced wafers and I think they may be okay to eat!! I checked 2 brands and neither contained dairy or anything that I noticed as a trigger. Here was the fat info:

Ivins' Famous Spiced
Serving Size - 3 cookies
Calories - 130
Fat Calories - 30

(And that's soy milk in the pic! LOL)

Sweetzels Spiced Wafers
Serving Size - 3 cookies
Calories - 110
Fat Calories - 30
(These have a little higher % fat than Ivins)

Just in case anyone was interested!

They're just at the regular grocery store. They only come out in the fall. You've never heard of them?

Maybe a little like ginger snaps. I can't remember because I haven't had either in so long. They are yummy though, I can tell you that! I used to love getting them every year when I was little. I haven't tried any yet this year.

OK... I called

Sweetzels Cookies
Bridgeport, PA 19405
1-800-932-7323
610-277-6770 (in PA)

They do NOT have a website and they are not available on the West coast except by mail order. Anyone can go to PA General Store

18 oz. Spiced Wafers per BOX
$2.29 per box + shipping

18 oz. Spiced Wafers per CASE(12)

I asked for stores in New Jersey and he said to try Path Mark, Super Fresh, Giant, & Weis Market (not sure I spelled those all right since I've never heard of any of them...LOL)

LOL Yes, now looking at my notes from when I talked to the guy on the phone he did say Shop Rite, I just could not read my writing, so I did not list it.

LOL - I never realized they weren't everywhere!

If you do happen to find them, here's a tip I learned but haven't tried myself yet. These are hard cookies, but if you like soft cookies, if you open the pkg (just open the plastic bag on the inside) and leave them sit to go "stale", they will actually soften.

Good luck on the hunt!

I just bought some for Mikey last week!

But guess what? My dad had them back in spring. When I asked if he'd saved some from fall, he said they DO sell them all year round, you just have to know where to find them. I guess they are hidden somewhere in the cookie aisle the rest of the year! LOL

The best way to eat Sweetzel's Spiced Wafers is how we did it in Philadelphia. You get a large mouth 3" glass. Fill it with apple cider. Swish the cookie back and forth in the cider about six times. Then, suck the cider through the cookie, and then eat the cookie. Use care, too many swishes makes the cookie fall apart in the cider. Practice makes perfect!

My aunt from Seattle visited this weekend, and bought a few boxes of Ivin's to take back with her. She looked on the box and it read that they were distributed by Albertson's (they own the Acme out here), which she says is out there. So, she is going to the Albertson's in Seattle with the box to try to get them there. I told her to let me know if she does so I can let you know!
