Ok, my saga of dealing with IBS in college continues. My dinning hall is thinking about making some IBS safe recipies for me that they can serve to everybody so they don't have to cook a special meal for me. I need some recipie suggestions to give them. Right now the only things I'm able to eat in the dinning hall are baked chicken breast, rice, pasta, and some cooked veggies. I really need something to add a little variety since I'm really starting to hate chicken. Any recipie suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also I can't eat tomatoes or tomato sauce, so that eliminates any Italian dishes with a red sauce.

Thanks
Meg

How about some of the chili recipes, or soup recipes??? If you do a search, you'll find a ton!!!

Soup would be a good option, but chili has tomatoes in it.

I'm thinking, but most of what I eat on a regular basis is "specialty" stuff, like turkey ham. Hmm. Pasta with sauteed vegetables? Baked fish? I'll keep thinking...

Plain stuff is best like plain fish, chicken, baked potatoes etc, as long as there is rice and veggies you can eat you should be OK. Could you meet with the chefs and give them the list of your triggers, they are the professionals after all and will have more ideas.

Other things would be chicken stew/casserole (as long as no MSG); wokfried chicken/veg with vegetables; turkey burgers; fajitas (if they let you do the salsa yourself so you can have none and avoid the sour cream); risottos

I find eating soup out can be dodgy because a lot of them use stock with MSG in it.
If I think of anything else I will post.

some good suggestions... a few more...

I think I posted my black bean soup recipe, if not I will.. and I know that is safe with the mods I use in it.. if you can have well cooked veggies....

Another option... chickpeas are great in hummus and most pita is safe.. so thats a nice option.. I don't have a problem with beans- so beans/chicken in non fried shell mexican dishes (burritos, enchiladas are both non fried flour tortillas.. and they could leave yours out of the sauce or just add the sauce as they serve to peoples taste...

lots of fish options would work... umm.. I'll think more and try to post later or tomorrow.

Just thought I should add that I am very sensitive to spices (@#$^&*#$ migranes). I guess i just need some variety and I'm not sure that this is a practical solution on the part of my University.

I just hope you can find some things that will work for both you and them! Did you go to the recipe index yet? You may find something that'll work there.

How many people at a time do they cook for? I have a TON of large quantity recipes here (cuz I used to do it) and will be happy to share. Find out how many eaters they serve per meal and I'll find ya some good ones.
