Hello

I'm really keen to try out this month's newsletter receipe -Chocolate Silk Pudding - 'cept that I can't find 'dark corn syrup' in the UK and not too sure what it is.

I'd be grateful if anyone knows.

Many Thanks!

In the US our corn syrup comes in glass bottles and the brand is Karo. It comes in dark or light. It is in the baking aisle. I am sure your brand is different but it must be similar to what I describe. Check the syrup (pancake kind) aisle too just in case.

Hello Sona,
I'm not sure myself how to explain what dark corn syrup is, however, I used to live in the U.S. and dark corn syrup was usually right beside the light stuff. Karo makes it, that's the one brand I'm familiar with. It should say on the bottles Karo light corn syrup and Karo dark corn syrup. It's frustrating when ingredients are called by other names, but as far as I know dark corn syrup is just dark corn syrup, nothing tricky. It should be at your regular grocery store in the baking section I bet, depends on how your grocery store is set up. I guess just ask the staff there which aisle. Good luck, and let us know how the pudding turned out.

that would create a flavor I don't think you'd want. Look for a mild pancake/waffle syrup that is IBS safe and sub with that.

Hi

Thanks for all the responses! Did a bit more searching and discovered that there isn't a UK sub. for corn syrup but I did find a web site that sells American brand foods to the UK: Skyco so I may finally get to taste Graham's crackers and make this recipe! Failing that, think I'll check out the syrup sections as suggested...

Thanks again - this board is supportive, love that!
