Happy Day For Me Down On "The Farm"

Today has been a great day (despite my aching back; I can barely climb in and out of the car). We drove down to the title company, gave them a cashier's check for the full amount of the house, and signed off on the papers. The escrow officer was so much fun, we laughed together, and I've never felt so good about releasing all my money! She said another Bev in her office also lives in Sudden Valley, where we've moving, and ALSO has IBS! I gave her this website and invited her to join us, and told her about Heather's books. Hopefully we'll see her pretty face here sometime soon.

Then we went to the new house. It's really looking nice, guys! The landscapers were there, putting in big rocks, my beloved ferns and some bark. The builder was there, finishing up in the kitchen, and the painter was there, finishing the painting. He thanked me for all my compliments (I had left notes all around), stating that no one ever does that, and it's so encouraging for him -- he made me feel real good. The carpeting is so lush; I took off my sandles and sunk my toes into it. The toilets had just been installed, so I delivered some toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, and trash basket. I mean, come on, guys, we're not ANIMALS, are we?!

Then we drove down to the water and walked along the shore with the puppy dog, sniffing at everything. It was a happy time. Hubby hugged me and we wished each other years of happiness together in what we have now named "The Farm."

We came back to the condo, where our brand new realtor has listed it on the market (are you ready for this?) for $30K more than what we were expecting to get! She expects it to sell very fast.

Then we walked over to the golf course clubhouse, where we were seated outside and partook of -- you guessed it -- a little bitta Jack! Then I had a chicken Caesar salad. (Yes, guys, I had the Equalactin and a slice of bread beforehand.) We toasted each other; it was very appropriate because we sat at the same table outside and celebrated with Jack the very day we sold the float home in Canada.

So now we just wait for the final closing to occur on Friday, and then it's U-Haul time! We figure it'll take about 2 weeks to get in; the movers move us out of the second storage facility on the 10th, and then we'll move out of the condo shortly after that.

I'll be online until then.

Bev

Aaah, Bev! What a great time in your life! I'm so envious! A new house---and you sound so happy. Maybe content is the word. Or did you just have too much Jack? Ha!

No, I know you are excited to be moving onto "The Farm." I wanna come with you!

Hey Sis,

Sounds like things are coming along nicely at THE FARM. I know you are getting so excited. Not too much longer and you will be sitting on that front porch sipping a Jack and watching the birds. Life is good.

What a nice surprise getting $30K more for condo. What are you going to do with all that extra money...huh????

BTW, you have mentioned your back hurting....what happened??

Hope you don't have to be off-line too long while you move. I'll miss ya.

I'm working tomorrow so I will check in when I get home.

Yeah for a good day on The Farm! That rocks. Even the builder made ya feel good! And you got to visit with Jack! Sounds like a wonderful day all around. I'm glad to hear things are shaping up with the house... you'll be in there before ya know it.

I forgot all about that "offline" part of moving - eek! We'll go through Bev withdrawal! But you know, it'll be worth it, to have you out of the condo and into that gorgeous home. Yeah!

Bev,

I am so excited for you. Every detail sounds wonderful. I really feel that you guys are going to be so happy in your new house.

How very sweet of you to leave notes for the painter to let him know what a good job he was doing. It doesn't surprise me that no one else has done that. If I ever build a house I will have to remember your idea.

Good luck selling the condo. I am sure that you will have no problems at all and what a bonus if you get $30k more than you had planned on.

I am glad that everything has worked out with the house. Now no more worries about it being finished on time.

See how everything comes together in the end?
Glad to hear everything is working out with your BEAUTIFUL 'home'. Not condo, not house, but home!
Good luck with the weeks to come

So are you gonna meet the other Bev? It'd be nice to have someone to go out to eat with and know that you're both in the same boat when it comes to the menu choices I'm glad everything's working out for ya, Bev! You deserve it!

How did you end up talking about IBS with the escrow officer? It is not a topic that usually comes up in casual conversation. Hopefully you will get to meet the other Bev and you will get along. It would be nice to have someone to hang with that completely understands what you are going through.

The escrow officer was DELIGHTFUL, very out-going and talkative. It kinda went like this:

EO: "What brought you up here from California?"

Me: "I can't take the heat down there. It's deadly!"

EO: "No? You like the cold better?"

Me: "Well, yeah. I have a condition that doesn't tolerate the heat, plays havoc with seratonin levels in my body."

EO: "REALLY?! That's very interesting -- we have a gal here in the office who has IBS, and she has the same problem!"

BINGO.

I'm really pleased when I can share this website with others who are suffering needlessly. I also shared it with the mother of the wife of our builder.

Yes, I would like to meet the other Bev, but you know, Janey, so many people with IBS are too shy to speak openly about it (such as the wife of the mother of our builder), and that's too bad, so Bev may not want to "join in." She could also be in denial (like I was for so long).

Thanks for posting, Janey! Hope you're doing well.

Bev

Bev, that's sounds fantastic! You guys deserve a wonderful place after all your troubles!

I'm so envious though! All those trees and the lake, wow! Be warned...if I'm ever in the area, you might just get a knock on the door! I'm so nosy!

I'm so glad your moving/building ordeal is coming to an end. That should be a great de-stressor for you and maybe your IBS as well. Congrats!
