I have heard these stories, OMGosh, glad he was so close to home in the face of such a catastrophe (thats what it would be in my house any way, I am such a wienie!) If it had been me, I would have been jumping up and down and waving my hands in the air, the idiot I can be!!! hehe

Congrats on your six months, I am so happy, proud, excited for you girl!

Yeah, Shelby, they just don't call them soup beans up here for some reason. You can get em (I think they call them pinto beans or navy beans or something) but they don't know what to call them.

PS my mom makes the absolute best navy bean soup, but then doesn't everyone's mom make the best stuff???!!!

Soup beans are actually a combination of about 5 or 6 different beans, packaged together and labeled "soup beans." I think the main bean is navy bean, but I believe lentils are included.

While my grandmother used a beef knuckle bone to make stock for the soup, frankly I think my chicken stock is better -- and totally fat-free. Back in my grandmother's days fat was of no concern. She also used salt pork for her baked beans. I hated them. Now bacon, well that's another story! OMG, would I kill for a strip of real dead pig.

***** sigh ******

Depends. Sometimes it's a mix, sometimes it's just one, usually pinto. I did a web search to disguise my ignorance!!

And I'll meet you anytime anywhere for a strip of real dead pig. Ambrosia of the gods!

And I hear ya about the day just disappearing when you're online. It is SO TRUE!
