OK...I know this is weird, but I live in Minnesota, and we've only had one week of 80 degree weather, but I'm already in the mood for fall weather. Specifically I'm excited for Halloween. (I love seeing all the kids dressed up!!!!!) It's only July for cryin out loud!!! It's gonna be a looooooong summer.

I do, literally, look forward to it all year. It's a shame it's the shortest season... or it seems so, anyway.

I love Halloween! And I don't even have kids to see dressed up! Tee hee.

You and me both Casey. Fall is so beautiful, all the colors, the fresh, crisp air. I can only imagine what it looks like in Maine!

I hate summer. Too bloody hot! That's why we moved up here from California -- to escape the heat. Plays havoc with my seratonin levels which in turns plays havoc with my IBS.

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the fresh air and the falling leaves, cool days and brisk nights. It's so refreshing! And so relieving -- that the summer is OVER! Yaay.

You're right -- it's gonna be a lonnnnnnnng summer.

Being from Maine and on a lake, I grew up around loons. They're my favorite! I miss them. You're so lucky to be surrounded by them. I collect loon decoys, and have a rather nice bunch of 'em, one of which was hand carved by a loon lover in Wisconsin; it cost me a fortune, but it's well worth it. I also have a magnificent huge poster of a loon taken at night over a lake; it's gonna be hung in a special spot at the top of the stairs in the new house.

Do you live near/on a lake? Are there lots of loons that cry out over the lake at night? We have gorgeous Canadian geese up here, but nothing can replace my beloved loons.

Oh my!!! Loons fly over my house every night. I love that sound. So calming. We live about 1 mile from a lake. Well, actually 2 lakes, their just connected.

I did. I about died when I downloaded it off my digital camera... I'm not a photographer by any means, it was a pretty darn lucky shot.

That's a little spot in Somesville, on the other side of the island from Bar Harbor. I wish I lived down that way... it's so gorgeous down there!

OMG, why do you torment me like this? What did I do to you to deserve this kind of treatment, Casey?!

I showed this pic to hubby, crying, and he jumped all over me: "Oh yeah? What about the WINTERS in Maine, eh? And the humid summers? Not to mention the muddy fall?! What about them giant-size mosquitos, huh? And them blood suckers in the lake!"

He shut me up pretty fast.

Yeah, gorgeous pic. I have a lot of them too. I thought I'd have them blown up and framed for the new house -- but then why torture myself?

Thanks for sharing -- I think.....

Casey, that's GORGEOUS!! You should have an enlargement made and buy a frame. My mother in law puts her photographs up on the wall and they're not HALF this good (don't ANYBODY tell her I said that!!)

Hehe... thank you.

The bummer is that I did upload the picture to a photo-printing site, and had a smallish (5x7) print made... and it looked awful! The print was crisp enough, but the colors were murky. I'd intended to tweak the original a little, to brighten it, and then try again, but darned if I can find it. I might just have to go back this fall and try again!

Gee, I dunno, seems like we haven't had much summer yet. In Milwaukee (where the weather MUST be similar to what you're experiencing, Becky) there have been maybe four days where it's cracked 80 degrees and here we are in the first week of July already. @$#%^&%^&$#%*$ it, I want some real steamy summer weather (and so do my tomato and basil plants) !

In Fort Wayne, whenever we have a couple of hot days, we all know that we should expect a big rainstorm soon! Mild weather means that it'll be nice for about a week, then there'll be hotness and then there'll be rain. We're too darn predictable

That sun was so bright today ! I have two pair of sunglasses and darn if I couldn't find them, actually one of them was hooked in the front of my t-shirt and I didn't realize it until I got back into the truck to leave Wal-mart, what an idiot!!

My oldest grandson was with me , we were in Lake Jackson, I swear, that sun was so bright that it felt like it was really burning my eyeballs. Do you ever get that feeling??? Yes, it sure was hot today, the ac in the truck just WOULD NOT cool us off!! Hope tomorrow is better !!

Yeah, I know the feeling. I have several pairs of sunglasses so I will always have one at hand. I can't stand to be without them in this sun. We did have a little shower yesterday afternoon here in the Clear Lake area and that helped. But, boy is it hot. Thank goodness for AC.
We only have July, August, Sept. & Oct. to get through and then it will get better. he he. Think we will make it??
